Reminder Regarding Creditable Coverage Disclosure to CMS

As noted in prior Integra Employer Health newsletter articles and communications, the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) requires entities (whose policies include prescription drug coverage) to notify Medicare eligible policyholders whether their prescription drug coverage is creditable coverage, which means that the coverage is expected to pay on average as much as the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage.  Group health plans are required to report this information to CMS annually no later than 60 days from the beginning of a plan year (contract year, renewal year), or within 30 days after any changes in creditable coverage status.

Where can I find the notice?
A group health plan sponsor should complete the Online Disclosure from to report to CMS the creditable coverage status of their prescription drug plans.  Please refer to http://www.cms.gov/CreditableCoverage/Downloads/2007-09-25_CCDisclosure2CMSInstructionsScreenShots.pdf for form instructions and https://www.cms.gov/CreditableCoverage/45_CCDisclosureForm.asp to complete the online form.
