The Assistant Vice President of HR personifies the Maestro Health culture to employees, clients and business partners. As a direct report to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will lead the HR efforts in our Charlotte location while managing the national HR team. You will serve as a brand ambassador for our culture and company, rolling up your sleeves to get things done. Specifics include a variety of HR leadership initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Leading the frontline HR team, coaching and mentoring for growth and performance

  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and systems that align with the business strategy

  • Collaborating in recruiting, hiring, employee performance efforts – the full employee life cycle

  • Monitoring HR trends and sharing insights

  • Administering benefits programs and offering payroll oversight assistance

  • Attending, and often leading, a variety of HR and Maestro Health meetings

  • Traveling as needed but not excessively

  • Handling everything from complex strategic business initiatives to deciphering which bakery has the best birthday cake


  • The CHRO, executive leadership and HR team have a high level of confidence in you

  • HR programs are fully developed, administered and demonstrate organizational value

  • Successfully execute, meet deadlines and share the knowledge of the HR team; they really know their stuff

  • You anticipate HR trends and provide actionable insight for Maestro Health to remain a competitive employer of choice

  • Effectively communicate inside and outside of the organization

  • Adjust to changing priorities quickly without dropping the ball

  • Operating in compliance within the law and company policies, while honoring the human side of human resources

  • Rock solid integrity and ethics - this is non-negotiable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 10 years of human resources leadership experience, or similar combination of education

  • HRCI or SHRM certification desired

  • Broad expertise in the HR body of knowledge, and those “But hey, what if?” scenarios

  • Successful track record managing high performing teams

  • Demonstrated strategic business savvy

  • Extensive knowledge of both fully insured and self-insured employee benefit plans

  • High degree of emotional intelligence and people skills - if you don’t know what that is, this isn’t the job for you

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, high standards and rock solid integrity

  • Sense of urgency, humor, compassion and ownership
